Humanmade Chest

This chest was designed during the course of my 3D print class at Humanmade. I first drew it up in Fusion 360, there was a few test prints, and few test items as I got the tolerances on both the drawers and the screw in feet correct. Iā€™m particularly proud of this one, it was the culmination of my 3D print and cabinetry skills.

The screw in feet was the most interesting part of this project. Getting Fusion, Cura and the 3D printer itself to all find a proper tolerance required a few iterations. There is a way, but you have to tweak some lines in fusion, make them a bit thicker to have them print properly. There is one orange foot on the chest to show that they are separate and not printed to the chest itself.

The drawers were a bit easier to sort out. Previously in class we had a project whose objective was figuring out the exact offset necessary to have PLA easily slide on itself. The drawer handles were picked out of the McMaster-Carr catalogue and imported into Fusion.

Below is the carcass fresh off the printer, with the supports still in place along with a drawer test and feet. The other picture shows the scale of the chest.
